urx unit loader Tom Cruise: Reps say he didn't hire fans to cheer in India
Tom-Cruise-Mumbai.jpgThe rumor that fans in India were paid to cheer for Tom Cruise seems a little silly. He may be a bit off sometimes and jump on couches, but there is no denying that Cruise is an international super star. Still, that’s what a rumor in India says.

It was first put out by First Post India. The rumor says that over 200 fans were paid 150 rupees each–about $3–to cheer for Cruise while he was in the country promoting “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” The Mumbai Mirror said that Wizcraft, the company that organized the trip, hired an outside agency to procure extras. Wizcraft has denied these claims.

The studio denies the claims as well. “Tom Cruise is a massive star and attracts huge throngs of fans as he
travels the world promoting ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,'” a
spokesperson for Paramount said in a statement to The Huffington Post.
“The only people paid were performers who danced outside the venue. The
idea that fans were paid to cheer is completely ludicrous and entirely

Some of the confusion may have been because dancers were paid to entertain the crowd during his arrival. Honestly, does anyone believe this? The man danced in his underpants for us in “Risky Business.” We’ll cheer for him any day.
