Tom Selleck might be returning to television.
The former “Magnum P.I.” and “Jesse Stone” star is close to a deal to star in CBS’ drama pilot about a family of New York police officers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Formerly known as “Reagan’s Law,” the untitled pilot follows New York chief of police Michael (Selleck) who resides in Brooklyn with the ex-chief (Len Cariou), who happens to be his dad, Patrick. Patrick had divided loyalties between his former fellow cops and the demands of the mayor’s office.
Michael’s son, the third generation, will be represented by Donnie Wahlberg, who plays police detective Brian.
Selleck hasn’t been resting on his “P.I.” cred. In the past few years, he’s been starring in the “Jesse Stone” movie franchise and played A.J. Cooper on “Las Vegas.”
Recently, Selleck had a lot to say to Zap2it about the reboot of “The Rockford Files” and working with James Garner.
