Now Deadline is reporting that Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has teamed with Morgan Creek Productions to co-finance and co-produce the film, which will be called “Tupac.” A new draft of the script, which is bring written by Eddie Gonzales and Jeremy Haft, is slated to be completed in two weeks. The plan is to get the movie filming in Atlanta with a February start date and a $45 million budget.
The producers on the project have the rights to use Tupac’s musical catalogue, and his mother Afeni Shakur is also acting as a producer on the film. Meanwhile, the movie also added LT Hutton as a producer as well. Deadline reports that the director and casting will quickly come in place now that “Tupac” has the money it needs.
Tupac was shot and killed on Sept. 13, 1996. He would have been 42 at the recent anniversary of his death.
