Network coverage of the Republican National convention (and a couple of NFL preseason games) affected Wednesday night’s ratings some, so the numbers may change in the final nationals. But as things stand now, “America’s Got Talent” and “Big Brother” both posted gains over last week. “So You Think You Can Dance” was also up a little for FOX.

NBC averaged 6.5 million viewers and a 4.2 rating/7 share in households for the night, leading CBS (5 million, 3.4/5) by a comfortable margin. FOX took third with 4.3 million viewers and a 2.7/4. ABC (3.4 million, 2.3/4) came in fourth, and The CW (1.15 million, 0.7/1) trailed.

NBC also led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 1.7 rating, edging FOX’s 1.6. CBS scored a 1.4 in the demo, followed by ABC, 1.0, and The CW, 0.4.
