Ratings for “American Idol” dipped Wednesday, and although it was still (barely) strong enough to give FOX a win among adults 18-49 for the night, it didn’t lead either of its hours.

At 8 o’clock, CBS’ “Survivor: Cagayan” topped “Idol” in both viewers and adults 18-49, pending updates for pre-emptions in a handful of markets. “Modern Family” led the 18-49 demographic at 9, while “Criminal Minds” eked out a total-viewer win.

CBS averaged 10.2 million viewers and a 6.4 rating/11 share in households for the night, just beating FOX’s 10.1 million and 6.2/10. ABC (5.9 million, 3.7/6) came in third. NBC (5.6 million, 3.7/6) took fourth, and The CW (945,000, 0.7/1) trailed with a night of repeats.

FOX scored a narrow win in the 18-49 demo with a 2.4 rating, beating out CBS’ 2.3. ABC finished third with a 1.8, followed by NBC, 1.5, and The CW, 0.3.
