“Hot in Cleveland” is lining up a “Mary Tyler Moore Show” reunion with the five key female cast members of the classic TV comedy. Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman and Mary Tyler Moore herself will join “Cleveland” regular Betty White and recurring player Georgia Engel for an episode of TV Land’s “Cleveland.”
Deadline reports the episode will tape April 5 and involve Elka (White) and Mamie Sue (Engel) organizing a reunion of their bowling team nicknamed “GLOB” (Gorgeous Ladies of Bowling). Moore, Harper and Leachman will play the other members of the team.
“Cleveland” frequently books TV veterans as guest stars — and Moore did a Season 2 spot as a tough prisoner when Elka went to jail — but this is the first time the quintet of “MTM” veterans will act on screen together since that show’s 1977 finale.
The reunion follows Harper’s announcement she is living with terminal brain cancer.
Just yesterday TV Land renewed “Hot in Cleveland” — which also stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick — for Season 5.
