Joining “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson and “Percy Jackson’s” Logan Lerman in the highly anticipated film adaptation of “Perks of Being a Wallflower” is “Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev. Deadline was first to report that Dobrev won the highly sought after role as Candace in the film.
The novel follows ’90s teenager Charlie as he grieves after his best
friend’s suicide, unapologetically exploring themes of drugs, abortion,
and homosexuality. Author Stephen Chbosky also wrote the script and
plans to direct the film, which shoots in Pennsylvania during Dobrev’s
hiatus from “The Vampire Diaries,” which wrapped its second season today
(April 15) in Atlanta.
Dobrev was most recently seen on the big screen in “The Roommate” with
Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester. She also starred as Kellan Lutz’s
young wife in “The Killing Game,” an upcoming “Hunger Games” style
thriller about an underground gladiator battle-to-the-death league.
