A lot more brides are about to walk down the aisle in a Vera Wang. Is this good news or bad?
Wang is one of the most celebrated designers in the bridal industry, with countless celebrities including Jessica Simpson, Ivanka Trump, Victoria Beckham, Ali Larter, Jennifer Lopez and many, many more choosing her designs for their big day. Seriously, this list could go on forever, but we’ll move on to more pressing topics.
The famed designer has announced that she will be creating a line of her fabulous dresses for none other than retail giant David’s Bridal. Excuse us?
Called White by Vera Wang, it will be designed for brides on a budget. According to IB Times’ Fashion & Life, the collection is expected to range from $600 to $1,400 and will be “every bit designer and gorgeous as her originals.”
We do realize that not everyone will be able to swing that price tag for their special day, but we definitely expect to hear plenty of new brides bragging about their “designer gown” and thinking they’re the next coming of Victoria Beckham. We don’t like the sounds of that one bit.
Sure, it’s cool that she’s opening up her customer base and giving us regular gals a chance to throw our money at her, but we can’t help wondering how this is going to affect the brand’s status in the world of elite (and pricey) celeb worthy designs.
What do you think? Would you buy a “Vera on a budget?” Or does this cheapen her brand image too much?
