One more familiar face from “Veronica Mars,” and someone new to Neptune, have joined the cast of the feature film.
Ken Marino, who played private detective Vinnie Van Lowe on the series, will return for the movie, creator Rob Thomas tells the film’s Kickstarter backers in his latest update. He’ll be joined by Martin Starr, who didn’t appear in the series but worked with Marino, Thomas and numerous other “Mars” alumni on “Party Down.”
Starr will play a member of the Neptune High class returning for its 10-year reunion, along with Veronica (Kristen Bell), Logan (Jason Dohring), Wallace (Percy Daggs III) and Co. His character is an 09-er, so there’s a good chance he’ll be interacting with another ex-“Party Down” star, Ryan Hansen.
When we last saw Vinnie, he was possibly on his way to winning the special election for sheriff of Neptune over Veronica’s dad, Keith (Enrico Colantoni). It’s hard to imagine him lasting 10 years in the office, though, and as this video from Marino-as-Vinnie suggests, he’s back to being a PI.
The “Veronica Mars” movie is in production now and scheduled for release in early 2014.
