Volkswagen is hoping you’ll bring appetite for nostalgia to the big game this Sunday.

The car maker unveiled its upcoming Super Bowl ad on Tuesday (Jan. 28) on “Today,” nearly a week before the important event, revealing a riff on the classic “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings” line from “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

The 2014 version? “Every time a VW hits 100,000 miles, a German engineer gets his wings.”

The commercial, filmed in part at a VW Factory in Dresden, Germany, shows engineers as they “earn” their wings during some rather inopportune moments.

Oh, and what happens at 200,000 miles? You don’t want to know.
