Catch all the excitement of the 2013 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s the first leg in the annual Triple Crown race, followed by the Preakness (May 18 this year) and the Belmont Stakes (June 8).
NBC airs the 2013 Kentucky Derby live beginning at 4 p.m. ET (race time is 6:24 ET). There’s also a live stream online for free via NBC Sports Live Extra. But you’ll need to login to watch because the stream only works if you have certain television providers, including DISH, Optimum, Verizon FiOS and Comcast XFINITY.
There’s also a NBC Sports Live Extra app for Apple or Android devices.
Fun fact: The Kentucky Derby has been run every year since 1875. That makes it longer running than either of the other Triple Crown races since the Preakness took a break from 1891-1893 and Belmont wasn’t run in 1911 and 1912.
