If anyone was feeling nostalgic for the early- to mid-00s reality TV show boom, where shows like “Joe Millionaire” and “Average Joe” were dotting the television landscape, you’re in luck because FOX is debuting “I Wanna Marry ‘Harry'” in May. This little gem of a show features Matthew Hicks, “an average English bloke” who happens to bear a striking resemblance to Prince Harry, taking part in his own little “Bachelor,” with 12 American women vying for his affections.
But of course, he doesn’t just look like Prince Harry. On this show, he’s pretending to be Prince Harry and the nitwits chosen to compete for his love think it’s totally real — at least they do in this first promo released by FOX.
One girl says, “His security’s not for show, it’s real,” while another appears to not be picky about who the man is she’s competing for, as she says, “Prince Harry, Harry Potter, I don’t care.”
The real question we have is how long does this charade continue? Anyone with half a brain must know that Prince Harry may be a bit wild, but there’s no way he’d find love on an American reality dating show, right?
“I Wanna Marry ‘Harry'” premieres Tuesday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
