Aaron Sorkin‘s “The Newsroom” debuted to 2.1 million viewers on Sunday night, but if you weren’t one of them, you’re in luck — HBO has decided to make the first episode available for free to non-subscribers. You can find the episode on HBO.com, YouTube, DailyMotion, TV.com, on various free on-demand platforms, and iTunes.
Reviews of the show were certainly mixed, with some critics applauding Sorkin’s trademark speeches and messages, and others claiming the show felt self-congratulatory and preachy. HBO is confident enough in it to release it for free, with the assumption that fans will enjoy it and subscribe for the remaining episodes.
Watch Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer in the premiere here, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Is it worth an HBO subscription, or should Sorkin stick to movies?
