We’re guessing Sunday’s game between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots might get a little ugly if this press conference has anything to say about it.
In the press conference, Patriots player Wes Welker decided it was the perfect time to mock Jets head coach Rex Ryan’s recent foot fetish scandal by dropping foot references like they were bad habits. In nine minutes, Welker worked in an astonishing 11 references. We wonder who helped him think of all of them. Thanks to Deadspin, here’s the list of references:
No. 1: “He does a great job of making sure everyone is on the same page and putting their best foot forward.” No. 2: “It’s a playoff atmosphere and you can’t just stick your toe in the water.” No. 3: “I had my foot up in the air trying to get the swelling to go down and things like that.” No. 4: “You want to go out there and put your best foot forward.”
No. 5: “He’s got great feet.”
No. 6: “I think we have had some younger players really step up this year.”
No. 7: “He has good feet.”
No. 8: “He is another guy with great feet.”
No. 9: “You want to make sure that you are putting your best foot forward out there and making it happen.” No. 10: “Good little foot soldiers.”
No. 11: “You definitely have to be on your toes.” We’re 95 percent sure Wes Welker’s middle name isn’t subtlety. What do you think, Zappers? Low-blow or coincidence?
