“Titans” follows the tight-knit Farrell clan and their settlement off the grid in the hills of Appalachia, where they’ll fight by any means necessary to protect their way of life. The show comes from playwright Peter Mattei, Peter Tolan, Paul Giamatti, Dan Carey and Michael Wilmer. The 13-episode one-hour drama will premiere in 2015.
The network has set up a writers’ room for “Underground,” about the slaves, helpers and mercenaries along the Underground Railroad, with the hopes that a series order will follow. The show was created and written by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski, who serve as executive producers with Akiva Goldsman, Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold.
Both shows come from Sony Pictures Television and Tribune Studios.
“These projects, each exploring a world we find to be unique and fascinating, continue our aggressive expansion into original scripted programing, says WGN America and Tribune Studios president and general manager Matt Cherniss in a press release.
