The “Once Upon a Time” fans were abuzz last October when it was revealed that Mulan (Jamie Chung) has been harboring a secret love for Princess Aurora (Sarah Bolger) — not Prince Philip (Julian Morris), as many were assuming.
But with Aurora expecting a child with Philip, Mulan didn’t have the heart to confess her feelings and instead ran off with Robin Hood’s band of merry men.
At the 2014 TCA winter press tour, Chung tells reporters that she’s so thrilled the writers went that way, as it was “an on-going inside joke” between her and Bolger that secretly Mulan was in love with Aurora. She adds, “I really do think that’s what [the writers] planned from the beginning.”
We haven’t heard from Mulan on “Once Upon a Time” since she left with the merry men, but creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis tell Zap2it that while they are incredibly happy for Chung landing a regular role on NBC’s new drama “Believe,” they would love to get her back for a Mulan update if they can and Chung echoes their sentiments.
“I would go back [to ‘Once Upon a Time’] in a heartbeat,” Chung tells reporters. “I am committed to [‘Believe’], but I don’t think that door is shut,” also saying that she would be excited for a love story for Mulan — “something to sink [her] teeth into.”
Chung adds that never revisiting Mulan “would be really disappointing, leaving the audience with this giant question mark.”
What do you think, fans? Would you like to see Mulan back on “Once Upon a Time”?
