Willie Nelson was charged with pot possession back in November, but he may just get out of the potential maximum 180 days in jail and $,2000 fine if he agrees to the prosecutor’s request that he sing in court.
That’s right. The prosecutor is willing to let Nelson off with a $100 fine if the legendary crooner sings “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” in the courtroom, according to TMZ.
In November, the 77-year-old Nelson was charged with drug possession after U.S. Border Patrol agents found six ounces of marijuana on his tour bus at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
“It’s kind of surprising, but I mean we treat him like anybody else,” Hudspeth County Sherriff Arvin West told the El Paso Times at the time of the arrest. “He could get 180 days in county jail. If he does, I’m going to make him cook and clean.”
Willie, we advise you to sing.
