Brittney Griner, a stand-out women’s basketball player for Baylor University and now a starting center for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, announced some happy news over the weekend when she posted the above Instagram photo, writing, “Last
Night was a Night to Remember. I became the happiest person on
this earth! (almost pass out but when that one word came out I came back
to life) Me and my baby @missvol25 are in it for life!”
The @missvol25 in question is Glory Johnson, a fellow WNBA player who was a Tennessee Volunteer in college. Johnson is now a forward for the Tulsa Shock. Johnson posted an Instagram response (below), writing, “What I get to wake up to @brittneygriner #LoveMakesYouDoTheCraziestThings.”
Griner made headlines in April 2013 when she came out of the closet, saying that during her time at Baylor, she was told to keep her sexual orientation to herself so as not to cause negative publicity for the school.
