Germany just made history at the 2014 World Cup, as it become the first team from Europe to win a World Cup title in the Americas (North, Central or South). The Germans bested Argentina 1-0, with the lone goal coming courtesy of Mario Gotze in the 113th minute.
It was a hard-fought game, with players being treated many times for injuries, including Germany’s Christoph Kramer leaving the game in the first half after a particularly hard collision. No diagnosis has been released at this time, but Kramer appeared dazed when he finally left the pitch about 10 minutes after the initial collision.
This marks Germany’s fourth World Cup title, which ties it with Italy for second-most championships behind Brazil’s five titles. It is Germany’s first win since 1990.
