WWE wrestler Santino Marella, who first signed with the company in 2005, has announced his retirement from in-ring competition. The surprising news was revealed during WWE’s live event in Toronto on Sunday (July 6).
According to reports from the event, Marella cited ongoing neck issues as the reason for his retirement. Though he’ll no longer be wrestling, Marella assured that he will remain with WWE in a non-competitive capacity.
Marella won his first of two WWE Intercontinental Championships during his debut match with the company. He’s also a one-time Tag Team Champion and one-time United States Champion.
