105-year-old bacon woman reveals secret to her long life
According to one 105-year-old Texas woman, bacon is the key to long life. Take that, doctors and health nuts!
"I love bacon, I eat it everyday," Pearl Cantrell tells NBC affiliate KRBC. "I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say."
Cantrell recently celebrated her 105th birthday party with a three-day event attended by over 200 people. When Oscar Mayer found out about the elderly woman's love of bacon, the company sent a Wienermobile to her home to deliver her packages of the cured meat and to drive her around town.
A University of Zurich study recently found that while too much bacon can increase the risk of bowel cancer, not eating enough red meat can lead to early death. Congratulations to Cantrell for managing to strike the right balance in her life -- and for eating whole lot of bacon during her 105 years.
