2010 MTV Video Music Awards' record ratings, Garth Brooks coming to Lifetime

MTV's 2010 VIdeo Music Awards drew its biggest audience for any telecast on the network since 2002. The VMAs had 11.4 million viewers, up 27% from 2009. In the network's 12-34 demo, the show pulled a 10.0 rating, up 33%. [THR]

"Unanswered Prayers," based on the popular Garth Brooks song of the same name, is coming to Lifetime in November. The film is the story of a happily married father (Eric Close) living the American dream. When the woman (Mädchen Amick) of his high school fantasies returns home, he has to face his past and will be presented with a choice that could change his future forever. Samantha Mathis will portray his wife. [Lifetime]

CBS has extended its long-standing relationship with the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing with a new three-year agreement to broadcast the annual TONY® Awards through 2013. The awards show, which honors theater professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway, has been a part of the CBS family since 1978. [CBS]

A&E Network has picked up a second season of the acclaimed drama series, "The Glades" starring Matt Passmore, Kiele Sanchez ("Lost," "Samantha Who?"), Carlos Gómez ("Shark," "Sleeper Cell") and Michelle Hurd ("Law & Order SVU," "Gossip Girl"). [A&E]

The Food Network's new primetime series "Food Feuds" will decide, once and for all, which dish defines different areas of the country. From Baltimore crab cakes and Philadelphia cheesesteaks to New York lobster rolls and New Orleans po' boys, Iron Chef Michael Symon searches the country to quell the most intense, long-standing culinary rivalries. The series premieres Thursday, Oct. 14 at 10 p.m. ET. [Food Network]

The President and CEO of Choice Hotels International (Steve Joyce), one of the world's largest hotel chains, will be the first boss to make an undercover journey this fall when the second season premiere of "Undercover Boss" airs Sunday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.  Starting Sunday, Oct. 3, the series will return to its regular 9 p.m. ET timeslot.
