2012 Boston Marathon: Ryan Sutter running for Ethan Zohn

ryan-sutter-ethan-zohn.jpg"Survivor" winner Ethan Zohn was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, CD20-positive Hodgkin's lymphoma, three years ago. He went into remission a year later and remained that way for nearly 20 months, but in the fall of 2011 he revealed the cancer had returned to his chest.

One thing the cancer has done this spring is keep Zohn from running the Boston Marathon. But running in his place is former "Bachelorette" winner Ryan Sutter. The two have become friends since their paths have crossed during various reality star appearances.

Zohn tells People, "Ryan is proof that you don't have to have a diagnosis to be affected by a life-threatening disease. I'm so impressed with his passion to help others. He stepped up for me before and is doing it again. ... To me, that's inspiring!"

The reason Zohn can't run the Boston Marathon is because he recently underwent a stem cell transplant from his brother to help combat the cancer. The transplant took place roughly six weeks ago, so at present time Zohn is just doing some light jogging while he recovers.

"It's not easy, but I'm getting stronger every day. I may not say it as much as I should, but all the love and support means the world to me," says Zohn.

Sutter, who is married to "Bachelorette" star Trista Sutter (née Rehn), is running the 2012 Boston Marathon in support of Grassroots soccer, the charity Zohn co-founded.

The 2012 Boston Marathon is Monday, April 16. Best of lucky to Ryan!
