3 things to love about the new 'Falling Skies' promo
Honesty time. The promos for TNT's "epic" alien invasion drama "Falling Skies" have been, up until now, more than a little lackluster. But the latest shill for the series, which premieres June 19, has piqued our interest.
Here are three reasons why:
1. Grand landscapes
We were starting to worry that this show was going to be a bunch of hand-held cameras bouncing around some post-industrial Canadian boom town -- but no! This trailer reveals that there are still cities in the "Falling Skies" world, they're just burning in blue flames underneath gigantic alien forts.
2. Noah Wyle's beard
It's a source of comfort to know that when the apocalypse eventually comes, the remaining men will be so busy trying to stay alive, they won't have time to shave. Dr. Carter, facial hair suits you.
Prior to this trailer, our only glimpses of the aliens have revealed them to be spider-y slime-balls, à la "Independence Day." (Lame!) Spiders could never take over the world -- but do you know what could? Spiders outfitted with robot parts. This trailer has the aliens sporting massive robotic shells, which look an awful lot like our beloved "Battlestar Galactica" Centurions.
