The reboot of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," which stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy and Katie Cassidy, Kellan Lutz and Kyle Gallner as teenagers on his hit list, took in an estimated $15.8 million on its opening night Friday (April 30), which puts it on pace for an opening weekend in the $35 million range. The Friday total includes $1.6 million from midnight showings on Thursday.

Nothing else in theaters really came close to matching "Nightmare's" totals. "How to Train Your Dragon" was second on Friday with an estimated $2.6 million, followed closely by "Date Night" with $2.5 million.

The weekend's other wide release, "Furry Vengeance," was box-office roadkill, taking in only $1.7 million. It could pick up a little on Saturday and Sunday as parents take their kids to the movie, but it's unlikely to break into eight figures this weekend.
