ABC gives 'The Goldbergs,' 'Trophy Wife' full seasons, 'Back in the Game' not so lucky
The extra script orders ABC gave "The Goldbergs" and "Trophy Wife" were a message of good faith, because the network decided to give both comedies full season orders. That means an additional nine episodes will be added in addition to the 13 being produced. Between them and "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD's" renewal, ABC's new Tuesday lineup is complete.
"The Goldbergs" is averaging 7.5 million viewers total with a 2.7 rating among adults 18-49, and it's continued to hold steady even in the absence of "SHIELD" on Oct. 29. Meanwhile "Trophy Wife" is averaging 5.7 million viewers total and a 1.9 rating.
Rebel Wilson's comedy "Super Fun Night" did not get a full season order but did get an addition of four new episodes. It has been averaging 7.4 million total viewers and a 2.8 rating.
Unfortunately for "Back in the Game," ABC has decided to stick to its original order of episodes and not add anymore. The network does say that the seven remaining episodes will still air, though co-creator Robb Cullen says the show won't be coming back.
"So ABC has decided NOT 2 move forward w @BackInTheGameTV 2 all of you fangles and friends, I can't begin to 2 thank u for all of ur support," he tweets.
"Back in the Game" has been averaging 7.2 million viewers with a 2.1 rating.
