Adele called 'too fat' by Karl Lagerfeld, fashion designer

adele-getty-surgery.jpgGerman fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld made a seemingly off-hand comment about singer Adele that definitely flies in the face of celebrating different styles of beauty and body shapes. In an interview with Metro Paris, Lagerfeld was asked for his thoughts on singer Lana Del Rey, the girl who kind of blew her "SNL" performance last month.

Lagerfeld responds, "I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. But as a modern singer she is not bad.The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."

He prefers her voice and thinks she's beautiful, that's nice. So why the need to say she's too fat? She's not morbidly obese, where one might be concerned about her health. And hey, guess what - Adele was just named as part of AskMen's Top 99 Most Desirable Women.

In the interview, Lagerfeld goes on to incorrectly attribute a statement to First Lady Michelle Obama and to rather ironically speak about political correctness - "Be politically correct, but don't become a bore for that. People should be sensitive in these matters, but not make so much noise. Be politically correct, but do we have to know your opinion?"

Lagerfeld also says the men in Russia are "very ugly."
