Adele's vocal cord surgery successful

adele-getty-surgery.jpgBritish singer Adele has undergone surgery on her throat to repair a vocal cord injury that has been bothering her throughout the year and caused her to cancel tour dates for the rest of 2011. A spokesman for Massachusetts General Hospital tells the AP that the microsurgery stopped a recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp.

This type of condition usually stems from unstable blood vessels in the vocal cords that rupture. The doctor who performed the surgery, Dr. Steven Zeitels, director of the Massachusetts General Voice Center, says he expects Adele to make a full recovery from the surgery.

Adele had previously blogged the picture below with the following message, "i need to wait until the infection has cleared up, theres no use battling through it because itll only make me weaker. im still breathless and my chest is disgusting. believe me im doing everything i can to get better asap i promise."
