Adrianne Palicki doesn't regret 'Wonder Woman,' wants to be Supergirl

Wonder Woman has been a notoriously hard character to bring to life on screen. Lynda Carter's run as the DC Comics icon in the 1970s lasted three seasons, but since then a number of attempts -- from a would-be Joss Whedon movie to a CW pilot last season -- have failed to get off the ground.

The highest-profile Wonder Woman project was an NBC pilot starring Adrianne Palicki that came close to being picked up a couple years ago, but was dropped at the 11th hour.

Now Gal Gadot has been tapped for the role in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel, "Batman vs. Superman." Those are some big red boots to fill, and ones that Palicki admits she is sad she never got to spend more time in.

"I got to play Wonder Woman, which was, by the way, maybe one of the coolest things ever," Palicki gushes to IGN while on the set of her new film "John Wick." "I was devastated when it didn't go and it was expected to. It was one of those things that was shocking. But in retrospect it was probably a blessing."

Why a blessing? Because it would have been quite a physical commitment for her. But regardless, her memories of working with producer David E. Kelley on the project are nothing but good.

"It would've been a really hard thing to shoot. And I got to wear the costume -- I should say, I got paid to wear the costume! So not many people get to say that," Palicki says with a laugh. "I'm really blessed to have gotten to do that and maybe someday down the line I'll get to play that character or another awesome icon again."

When asked what superhero she would pick to play if she had a choice, Palicki's answer was easy: "I'm waiting for Supergirl." Maybe in "Man of Steel 3"?
