'Agents of SHIELD' gains 'Ghost Whisperer's' David Conrad in secret role

"Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" has added a new actor in a recurring role. "Ghost Whisperer" alum David Conrad will join Season 1 of the new ABC show as an undisclosed character, TVLine reports.

ABC wouldn't comment on the casting, but TVLine believes that Conrad could play the part of a "brilliant and quirky scientist" in his mid-40s who the production has been searching for. If that's the case, it could be that Conrad is a part of the secret villainous Project Centipede that is trying to manufacture superpowers (or at least that seems to be the organization's goal based on the pilot).

It also could be that Conrad is playing a member of the SHIELD organization who fans don't meet in the pilot, though that's not as fun a speculation, especially since Agents Fitz and Simmons have the science angle down in the "Agents" team. Regardless, it's nice to see a familiar TV face on a show that's so full of new cast members.

"Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" premieres on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m.
