Alec Baldwin: '30 Rock' ending in 2012

tina-fey-alec-baldwin-getty.jpgWhile speculation has abounded that actor Alec Baldwin will be leaving "30 Rock" when his contract is up in 2012, he dropped a bit of a bomb to New York Magazine at Tuesday night's (April 5) National Dance Institute's annual gala fundraiser.

When asked if he is going to write a book (like co-star Tina Fey, whose "Bossypants" just hit shelves), Baldwin says, "I will tell you one thing and that is our show next year is our last year of the show. Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She's going to be the next Elaine May. She'll be great."

Wow. There is no word yet from Fey's camp as to whether that is for sure or if Baldwin is simply speculating that Fey will leave with him. We can't really imagine the show continuing without Fey and Baldwin, but if Fey were to stay, they could perhaps find another executive foil for Liz Lemon.

What do you think, "30 Rock" fans?
