Ali Lohan to 'Model Call': 'I don't need to ride any coattails'

ali-lohan-model-contract.jpgWhile Lindsay Lohan tries to get her life in order at the Betty Ford Center, little sister Ali Lohan is working on her modeling career. She recently signed with Wilhelmina Models and tells Women's Wear Daily's "Model Call" that she wants to do good things with her "fame."

"I want to make the most out of the word ['fame']. I want to do good things with my fame, or whatever it is," says Lohan. "I want to help and do charity work."

She also says that modeling is her passion, as opposed to music or acting. You can see some of her earliest shots here, when she did a cover shoot for Fault magazine.

"I just love that you can express yourself through a photograph. It just captures every moment. I mean, the clothes -- that's not bad either. Music is always going to be a hobby of mine, but I think this is definitely what I want to do now," says Lohan.

The younger Lohan also says that she wants to stand on her own two feet and not known only as Lindsay's younger sister.

"I would just like to be known as my own person. I don't need to ride on any coattails. I just want to make my mark myself. I definitely have to prove myself -- just showing up on time and doing everything that you're supposed to do," says Lohan. "I'm Aliana and I'm just trying to work like every other model. I don't want to be put on any platform. And I don't think that I have been."

It is remarkable how far "showing up on time" and "doing everything that you're supposed to do" will get you. Wise words, young Lohan.

Ali adds that she and Lindsay speak all the time and that her sister is "awesome."

"I'm going to be visiting her at the end of the month for some family time," says Ali. "At the end of the day, I only trust my family. I feel that so many things have happened, but at the end of the day, they're always going to be there for you."
