'Alphas' earns a second season from Syfy
The official word came Wednesday (Sept. 7). Syfy has ordered 13 episodes to premiere next year, presumably in the same summer spot where it found success this year. (The show's inaugural season continues through September.)
"'Alphas'' smart, innovative approach to a superhero franchise has clearly caught on with our audience," Syfy president Mark Stern says in a statement. "From the first-rate writing to the outstanding cast lead by David Strathairn, we're very proud of what was achieved in its first season and look forward to seeing this series fulfill even more of its creative potential in a second season."
So far this season "Alphas" has averaged 3.3 million viewers per episode (including Live+7 DVR viewing). It's also averaging about 240,000 on-demand plays within a week of episodes' initial airing and is the channel's most downloaded series.
