'American Idol': Alex Lambert sings 'Let Me Love You' on 'Ellen'

"American Idol" Top 24 contestant Alex Lambert stopped by the "Idol" judge's talk show to tape the special St. Patrick's Day episode airing Wednesday (March 17).

It's all really sweet: How he admits to horrible stage fright and how his mom made him audition.

And then Alex broke out Mario's "Let Me Love You," the song he had initially wanted to sing on "Idol" before he was talked into performing "Trouble" by Ray Lamontagne.

And we know how well that served him. Elimination. Gee, thanks, producers.
