'American Idol' eyeing Adam Lambert as replacement for Jennifer Lopez

adam-lambert-may-2012-gi.jpgThe 2013 season of "American Idol" could end up looking rather different from the 2012 edition -- but it might also have a familiar face at the judges' table: Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert.

FOX is considering Lambert is as a possible replacement for Jennifer Lopez, who's currently unsigned for the coming season. "He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on," a source tells E! Online.

If the show brings Lambert on board, that would make for an all-male judging panel -- if, in fact, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler also return. Even executive producer Nigel Lythgoe isn't sure what will happen.

"Everything is up in the air," Lythgoe tells the site. "There will be changes for sure, but nothing that stops it from what it is, which is an out and out talent show."

"American Idol" is set to begin its 12th season in January. Would you like to see Lambert as a judge, and who should join him?
