'American Idol': Mary J. Blige -- how'd she do?

mary-j-blige-american-idol.jpgWednesday's "American Idol" welcomed R&B diva Mary J. Blige to Atlanta. How did she do as a guest judge?

While first guest judge Victoria Beckham exceeded our expectations by being friendly and personable, Mary J. Blige was a disappointment for us by being giggly and silly. We thought Mary J. would come to Atlanta and drop the hammer on contestants, but instead she dissolved into giggles more than she critiqued (at least from what we could see).

Don't get us wrong -- there were funny things happening on last night's "Idol." Pants on the ground, pants on the ground. Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground! But we were expecting a little more professional insight from a singer the caliber of Mary J. Blige.

Many of the commenters on the recap thought she was rude, but we disagree. She wasn't necessarily rude (or any ruder than "Idol" judges always are) but we thought we'd get more musical opinions out of her.
