'American Idol's' Haeley Vaughn loves Miley Cyrus -- was that her downfall?

haeley-vaughn-american-idol.jpgHaeley Vaughn repeatedly said during "American Idol" that she wanted to be pop-country. So why did she do Miley Cyrus' "The Climb?"

Because she loves Miley.

"Miley Cyrus is one of my ... oh my gosh, I love her ... My favorite show is 'Hannah Montana' just because I love Miley Cyrus so much. That's a really big inspiration for me," says Haeley in her post-"American Idol" elimination interview.

Unfortunately, Haeley's love for all things Miley could not keep her around on "American Idol." "The Climb" proved far too big for Haeley's voice. We think if she really wanted to be pop-country, she should've definitely tried some Taylor Swift.

Not only are Taylor Swift's songs right in line with what Haeley wants to do with her career, but they are also young and comtemporary like Haeley herself. "Fifteen" or "You Belong With Me" would've been much better suited for Haeley's small, cute voice.

Ah well. Haeley and her Miley Cyrus love will soldier on. She also said in her interview that she plans on going back to high school but that "being on Disney would be awesome." So maybe we'll see her with the fellow mouseketeers in the future.
