'American Idol's' Keith Urban: 'We put the 'fun' in dysfunctional'

keith-urban-ellen-degeneres-show.jpgNew "American Idol" judge Keith Urban stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Monday (Jan. 14), where he talks to Ellen about the new "Idol" family, assuring her that he is having fun so far.

"We're putting the 'fun' in dysfunction. It feels like I've joined this band in some ways," says Urban.

When asked about the Mariah Carey-Nicki Minaj feud, Urban laughs.

"You've got four genuinely passionate people and we get thrown on the dance floor and said, 'Alright, dance together, go.' A few toes get stepped on figuring out the groove. But by the time we get to Hollywood week, we get a really good flow going," says Urban.

He then serenades Ellen with his Golden Globe-nominated song "For You" from "Act of Valor." You can watch the video below.

"American Idol" premieres Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
