Andrew Garfield talks 'Spider-Man' suit: It's 'designed to make you irritated'

andrew-garfield-ellen-spider-man.jpgAndrew Garfield was beyond excited when he was cast as Peter Parker in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man" -- but that doesn't mean that shooting the highly anticipated film was a breeze. On Tuesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," he dishes on one of the less pleasant aspects of the character. The costume.

The training required to fill out that red and blue spandex was no joke. Garfield says he worked out "like a literal crazy person." He adds, "It was a life change. I get frustrated with those men's health magazines. It's like, 'In 5 minutes you'll be as fit a as fiddle if you just follow those 3 simple steps and only eat cucumbers!'"

As to whether the suit is actually comfortable, that gets a resounding "no, no, no," from Garfield. "It's made of something that is designed to make you irritated. I don't know what that material name is, but that's the description underneath."

Speaking of underneath... Garfield tells DeGeneres that there was no underwear between him and the suit. "It's just me," he admits. Watch the video below to hear Garfield discuss one particularly awkward shoot where he was very concerned about the photos being taken of him in costume.
