'Anger Management' casts Shawnee Smith as Charlie Sheen's ex

shawnee-smith-gi.jpg Charlie Sheen's FX comedy "Anger Management" has found one of its female leads in former "Becker" regular Shawnee Smith.

Smith, who also starred in several of the "Saw" movies, will play the ex-wife of Sheen's character, an anger-management therapist, Deadline reports. The characters have a teenage daughter together and have a fairly amicable relationship.

The show is also nearing a decision on its other major female role, Charlie's own therapist. Selma Blair and Elaine Hendrix ("Joan of Arcadia") have read for the network, Deadline says, and a few other actresses may also be in the mix.

Smith played the sweet but somewhat dim Linda on "Becker," which ran for six seasons on CBS. More recently she guest-starred on "Law & Order: LA" and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," and she co-stars in the Billy Bob Thornton-directed "Jayne Mansfield's Car," which is making the film-festival rounds this year.

"Anger Management" is set to premiere in June on FX with a 10-episode run. If it hits ratings goals, FX will then pick up 90 more episodes.
