He tells USA Today that he wanted to adhere to the fruit-only diet, which the biopic claims Jobs followed, in order to prepare to play Jobs on the big screen. But the diet ended up sending Kutcher to the hospital with pancreas problems.

"First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to like severe issues," Kutcher tells USA Today. "I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain. My pancreas levels were completely out of whack. It was really terrifying ... considering everything."

Jobs passed away of pancreatic cancer in October 2011.

Kutcher says he studied hours of Jobs on tape to capture his walk and demeanor.

"We both have a ravenous interest in the tech space," says Kutcher, of his connection of Jobs. "He's a guy that failed and got back on the horse. I think we can all sort of relate to that in some place in our life where we are moving forward with something and we fall down. You have to have the guts to get back up and go again."

"jOBS" will be released in theaters in April.
