'Baby Daddy' stars on their love triangle and the most adorable baby ever
Hilarity ensues when he and his roommates -- BFF Tucker ( Tahj Mowry) and professional hockey player brother Danny ( Derek Theler) -- decide to raise the little one together.
"It's basically like an updated, more modern version of 'Three Men and a Baby," explains Mowry. "So you've got these three guys in their 20s ... living in New York City, trying to live the life that 20-year-olds do, and we have a baby on our doorstep now."
Zap2it sat down with the cast to discuss the difficulties involved in filming a TV show with babies and the love triangle that develops between Danny, Ben and their childhood friend Riley ( Chelsea Kane), who, along with the boys' impossibly young mother ( Melissa Peterman), is enlisted to teach the clueless guys a thing or two about being a responsible adult.
Turns out it's quite easy to work with babies when your child actors are as adorable and patient as the twins who play Emma. "If this little girl was left on my doorstep, I'd be a parent right now because there's just soemthing about her that you fall in love with."
That backfires sometimes, though, when everyone just wants to play with the cute kid. "You're upstaged all the time," Kane says. "Melissa and I have a very thick skin because the minute the baby comes on stage, it's like, 'We don't care about you anymore, what is the baby doing?'"
As for the love triangle, Riley has harbored an unrequited crush on Ben for years -- too bad Danny's totally in love with her. "No one wants to ruin the friendship, so no one's speaking up," Kane says.
Tucker, meanwhile, knows about the whole situation and likes to instigate trouble.
On paper, the choice seems easy: "It's hilarious to me, because here's Riley, and there's the one brother who's 6'5'', a professional hockey player, gorgeous, and then there's the single father bartender who she's totally hung up on," Kane says.
But Ben has no idea. "Ben's clueless to the fact that Riley likes him and that [Danny] likes her. I'm just taking care of [Emma]."
"She's the important girl to him," Theler interjects.
Says Bilodeau, "Exactly, she's my girl."
