'Back in the Game' trailer: ABC swings and hits with new baseball family comedy

ABC is beefing up its family comedy lineup with the new series "Back in the Game." The network premiered a trailer for the show during its Upfronts in New York, and the first look makes it seem like ABC has another crowd-pleasing comedy on its hands.

The series stars Maggie Lawson as a down-on-her-luck former All Star softball player who lost everything in her divorce and has to move herself and her son (Griffin Gluck) in with her opinionated father (James Caan), who she is still resentful over from their troubled relationship in her youth. She ends up deciding to coach her son and the rest of the athletically-challenged outcasts from their local Little League team, though this trailer makes it seem like that's easier said than done.

Written and executive produced by "Las Vegas'" Mark and Robb Cullen, it will be interesting to see how this show resonates with audiences. Considering the fact it's stuck in the Wednesday 8:30 p.m. timeslot between "The Middle" and "Modern Family," viewers will likely tune in for its fun comedy fare.
