Following her MTV Video Music Awards performance, Katy Perry for a shout out from a pretty surprising space. After Perry retweeted a message from President Barack Obama about the beginning of his affordable healthcare program Sunday (August 25), she actually got a reply.

The message was simple, reading, "Thanks for spreading the word. #ROAR" Nothing too crazy, but a nice mention from President Obama's Twitter account none the less. Still, very few of the tweets actually come from the president himself, as most are composed by his Organizing for Action staff.

That didn't stop Katy's excitement though. She followed up with a message to her followers, writing, "YO what a day! #ROAR-ing @ the #VMAs, Tweeting w/POTUS, & now happy to announce U chose #DARKHORSE FT @therealjuicyj to come out Sept 17th!" Dark Horse was the single Katy's fans voted to be released next.
