He hasn't even appeared on "Beauty and the Beast" yet, but Sendhil Ramamurthy has already had his part upgraded to series regular.

Ramamurthy will play the role of Assistant District Attorney Gabe Lowen on the People's Choice-winning drama. His first episode (the 15th of season 1) will air on February 28. When he does appear, it will be as a series regular (as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter).

The character of Gabe is a member of high-end New York City society and exudes both charisma and ambition. He enters the "Beauty and the Beast" story in search of the vigilante -- which would of course be Vincent ( Jay Ryan) -- and finds himself drawn to Detective Catherine Chandler ( Kristin Kreuk).

Will Gabe be a love interest for Cat? Or is his interest purely professional. Considering that the show is about to introduce Vincent's ex-fiancee, Alex (Bridget Regan), "Beauty and the Beast" fans might want to prepare for some sort of love triangle.

Best known for his role as Mohinder Suresh on "Heroes," Sendhil Ramamurthy also co-starred on USA's "Covert Affairs" for two seasons.
