'Big Bang Theory' star Mayim Bialik could lose finger after car accident

mayim-bialik-instyle-getty.jpg"Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik -- best known as "Blossom" from the '90s sitcom -- sustained major injuries in a car accident on Wednesday afternoon in Hollywood.

TMZ reports that there was a lot of blood at the scene of the accident, and that Bialik's finger appeared to be nearly severed. She may be in danger of losing the digit. Bialik was rushed to a hospital immediately after the collision.

Luckily, the 36-year-old mother of two was alone in her white Volvo, not transporting her children, when she was struck by a car full of tourists at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea.

"Big Bang Theory" is currently in season, but it's too soon to tell whether Bialik's accident will impact production. Bialik boasts a Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy nomination this year for her work on the CBS comedy.

UPDATE: Bialik's hand will remain intact! She's due back at work on "The Big Bang Theory" tomorrow, and her injury won't interrupt production. " In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna See pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol," Mayim tweeted (with her husband doing the typing for her). Yes, she'll be on E!'s "The Soup" on Wednesday.
