Underwood, late of "Dirty Sexy Money," will play a relatively new president of the United States in the Peacock's thriller "The Event," his rep Lee Wallman confirms to Zap2it. Other notable names in the latest round of pilot casting include Lindsay Price, Scott Porter, Jon Seda, Eliza Coupe, Michael Imperioli, Jason Isaacs and Jesse Bradford.

Underwood will need to stay on his toes in "The Event"; the show is about a conspiracy to assassinate the president and the everyday guy (Jason Ritter) who somehow gets caught up in it. His other credits include a recurring part on "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "In Treatment" and "Sex and the City."

Other casting news:

- Price, who's coming off ABC's canceled "Eastwick," has joined another project at the network, "Who Gets the Parents?" The comedy stars Adam Arkin and Jane Kaczmarek as a couple getting a divorce after 30 years; Price will play their daughter-in-law, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

- "Friday Night Lights" alum Porter will star in The CW's drama presentation "Nomads," the HR says. The show, from writer Ken Sanzel ("Numb3rs"), is about a group of young people recruited to undertake missions for the CIA.

Porter was reportedly in the running to star in "Captain America: The First Avenger," but his casting in "Nomads" seems to indicate otherwise.

- Seda, one of the stars of HBO's "The Pacific," will star with Roselyn Sanchez in "Cutthroat," about a Beverly Hills woman who secretly runs a drug cartel. He will play Sanchez's cousin and right-hand man in the business.

- "Scrubs" star Coupe has been cast in another ABC comedy, "Happy Endings." She'll play a friend of an engaged couple who break up on their wedding day.

- Imperioli ("The Sopranos," "Life on Mars") has taken the lead role in ABC's drama "Detroit 187." He'll play a veteran homicide detective who's being followed by a documentary crew, according to the HR.

- Isaacs (the "Harry Potter" films) will star in FOX's "Pleading Guilty," his first network pilot. The drama, based on Scott Turow's book, will detail the intrigue and shady dealings at a powerful law firm. Isaacs previously starred in Showtime's "Brotherhood."

- Bradford ("Bring It On," "Flags of Our Fathers") has signed onto an NBC drama pilot from writer John Eisendrath ("Alias"). The show is about a former Supreme Court justice who goes back into private practice; Bradford will play his clerk.
