'Boardwalk Empire': Watch HBO's new trailer

steve-buscemi2-boardwalk-empire.jpgHBO has released a third trailer for its new series "Boardwalk Empire," and ... let's see here ... yep, still incredibly excited to see it.

The new teaser for the show, which premieres in the fall, focuses on lead character Nucky Thompson ( Steve Buscemi), who, we learn, had a long, long reach in Prohibition-era Atlantic City. He holds the legitimate position of county treasurer, but that barely begins to cover it. As the character puts it in the opening voiceover, "Everything you see here -- it's mine. Buy you a drink, place a bet, ride the Ferris wheel."

The trailer -- which, by the way, will air on HBO after the "True Blood" season premiere on Sunday (June 13) -- also gives viewers a more complete introduction to Van Alden (Oscar nominee Michael Shannon), a federal agent who's sent to Atlantic City to look into gangster Arnold Rothstein (the man who fixed the 1919 World Series). He comes away, though, "think[ing] Nucky Thompson is the bigger fish."

"Boardwalk Empire" also stars Michael Pitt, Kelly Macdonald, Michael K. Williams, Shea Whigham, Gretchen Mol, Paz de la Huerta and Dabney Coleman. "Sopranos" writer-producer Terence Winter created the series, and Martin Scorsese directed the pilot and serves as an executive producer.

Here's the trailer.
