Box Office: 'Identity Thief' is tops Friday night
This despite snowstorm Nemo causing many New England theaters to be closed Friday night and probably also keeping many moviegoers at home, even if their local theaters were open.
"Warm Bodies," the zombie comedy, was second place with a $3.3 million night. "Side Effects," the only other wide new release, was third with $2.8 million. "Effects" is Steven Soderbergh's new psychological thriller about the use of antidepressants.
Running in fourth place was "Silver Linings Playbook" at $1.6 million, followed by "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" at $1.3 million. Guillermo del Toro's horror movie "Mama" was sixth with $1.2 million, followed by "Zero Dark Thirty" at $975,000.
