Box Office: 'Sex' rules Friday, 'Shrek,' 'Prince of Persia' close behind

satc-2-big-carrie.jpg"Sex and City 2" added another $13 million to its earnings on Friday, May 28, after a $14 million opening on Thursday, May 27. That grand total of $27 million puts it slightly ahead of where the first "SATC" movie was after its opening day in 2008, according to the Hollywood Reporter. If this pace keeps up, Memorial Day weekend is looking to be pretty good to the gals from NYC.

"Shrek Forever After" took second place on Friday night with a respectable $11.4 million, while the videogame adaptation adventure "Prince of Persia" was in third with just over $10 million. If "Sex and the City 2" tails off, either of those could contend for the weekend title.

"Iron Man 2" and "Robin Hood" close out the top 5 with $4.4 M and $2.8 M, respectively. "Letters to Juliet" in sixth place is the only other movie to the $1 million mark on Friday, bringing in $1.8 M.

The complete Top 10 looks like this:

1.    "Sex and the City 2"     $13,000,000
